Definition:

Calculated Cetane Index is a measure of a diesel fuel's ignition quality. The limit for a #2 diesel fuel is a Cetane Index of at least 40.

ASTM D976

Reporting Measurement:

No Units

Amount of Sample Needed:

100 mL

Test Limitation:

Cetane Index calculations do not work well for biodiesel blends.
