Specific Conductance
Definition:
Specific Conductance is a coolant's ability to resist carrying an electrical current between dissimilar metals. Excessive levels can be due to improper source water, high metal corrosion or over-treatment with SCAs.
Standard Test Method Used:
POLARIS Method - Conductivity/TDS Meter Measurement
Reporting Measurement:
microSiemens, µS
Amount of Sample Needed:
50 mL
Test Limitation:
Overly concentrated in-service coolants will give false readings. Petroleum contamination can affect results.
