There is a lot to say about the NFL and great players. You will often hear of names such as Jerry Rice and Jim Brown, but still, there are players considered as the best of the best. Here are the top three football players who ever lived.

1. Sammy Baugh

Many NFL players came and passed, but none of them showed as much promise as Sammy Baugh. Baugh was listed among the top ten players in both the NFL and MLB in the book, ‘Mad Dog’ by Chris Russo. In his time, he made 203 interceptions and 187 touchdowns. In summary, he was a man of many talents.

2. Otto Graham

Graham was the Browns’ quarterback and led the team to win seven NFL big league games. He had an excellent starting record of 57-13-1 and threw 23, 584 yards making him the best player in his time. He also recorded 135 interceptions and 174 touchdowns. His achievement can still be registered as good today, making him one of the best players that ever lived.

3. Jim Brown

Many running back players will often use Jim Brown as their inspiration. There has never been a second Jim Brown since his time. Brown had an average of 1,368 yards in only nine seasons plus 12 touchdowns. He had the MVP title in 1957, 1958, and in 1965 and was rated as the best runner in the history of the NFL games.

He may not have been as versatile as the other two players, which is why he is not number one, but his efforts cannot be ignored. He is the kind of player that would leave fans’ mouths wide open after a power run and a touchdown.

Conclusion

Following closely to these three greats would be the likes of Jerry Rice, Don Hutson, and Lawrence Taylor. However, the NFL is too competitive to have them all among the top three.
